Jackie Bonasia
Associate Professor Jake Lynch is the chair of the Department of Peace and Conflict Studies at the University of Sydney. For ten years, he was a board member of the Sydney Peace and for two years, he acted as Secretary General of the International Peace Research Association. Before his career in academia, he spent 20 years in professional journalism. He was a Political Correspondent for Sky News, Sydney Correspondent for the Independent newspaper, and newsreader for BBC World, for whom he presented over a thousand half-hour bulletins (luxembourgpeaceprize.org).
He has been a leader in the field of Peace Journalism, university education, professional training, and research scholarship. Together with Dr. Annabel McGoldrick, he worked to produce the biggest ever research study in Peace Journalism: A Global Standard for Reporting Conflict.
Lynch has spent the past 20 years researching, developing, teaching and training in Peace Journalism (sydney.edu.au). Furthermore, he educates others who wish to do peace journalism by leading training sessions and workshops for editors and reporters. He does this in a variety of different countries including Indonesia, Nepal, and Afghanistan.
